I’ll admit it, I’m addicted to RSS. I’m always reading feeds from 100+ sites I have in my RSS Reader. Being able to easily access my feeds from my mobile phone just makes it that much more addictive. But it’s a good addiction! Here are some suggestions for viewing your RSS feeds on your Nokia 6682:

Bloglines Mobile

Bloglines was my RSS Reader of choice ever since I discovered RSS. Bloglines Mobile can be accessed via your phone’s web browser, and its functionality is very similar to the standard version, so if you’ve been using Bloglines, you’ll easily understand their mobile interface. My only complaint about Bloglines is once you click on a feed, it immediately marks all the latest entries as “read.” You have the option to “keep all as new”, but if you have a feed that has 50 new posts and you only have time to read 25, you’re stuck with the decision of marking all 50 as new, or leaving them as unread and trying to remember to come back to read the ones you missed.

Google Reader Mobile

While the mobile version of Google Reader has been available since May of this year, I did not make the switch to Google Reader until the past few weeks when Google rolled out a greatly improved update to their standard Google Reader. Like Bloglines Mobile, Google Reader Mobile is accessed via your mobile web browser. The advantages of Google Reader over Bloglines are you have the option either view the full feed or just the headlines (and then click to view the individual post), a post is not “marked as read” until you actually click it in the reader (there’s an option to quickly “Mark All as Read” if you wish), and the ability to “star” the posts you’d like to mark as such. Google Reader allows you to easily import your existing RSS feeds, so making the switch is very simple.

Resco News Series 60

Resco News Series 60 is an RSS Reader application for your phone. They offer a 14-day free trial, and then you have to pay $11.95 for the software. Since it is an application, you have full capabilities to manage your feeds directly in your phone very easily… something that no web-based RSS Reader will offer you (at least with today’s current mobile browser technology). Like Google Reader, Resco News allows you to import your feed subscriptions via an OPML file, so it’s easy to try it out to see if the $11.95 is worth it for your RSS Reading needs.
